It is known that man’s best friend has always been a dog but it is also known that the only creature that can compete with a dog in terms of cuteness is a baby.
While a new parent to a baby has to give all his time, care, affection and attention to his offspring, a new parent to a dog gives all that and receives the same too. Dogs are affectionate animals! We bet you cannot deny that. Just taking your furry friend out for an evening walk, watching his tail wiggle or cuddling him holds the magical power to instantly make you feel less tired, happier and loved.
Besides carrying that ability to uplift any human’s mood, dogs are also known to be heroic and faithful animals. From age-old legends to modern-day narrations, the stories of dog heroism have always been told and re-told over generations.
This tale is about a dog who dared to sacrifice his own life for his master’s baby will probably put an end to the debate of dogs vs babies for you–
A Labrador Retriever named Tony was taken to a river side picnic by a family. The family consisted of a teenage girl, a toddler, their two cousin brothers and their respective parents. It was a windy day and the kids were playing dodge ball amongst themselves by the river while the elders basked in the sun, chatting. The constant chatter of the elders came to a halt as one of the little cousins came running to them, screaming for help. The adults were caught in a sudden panic and stood up in a hurry asking the child what the matter was. The kid was out of breath and could not speak. However, he pointed his finger towards where the kids were playing. The parents looked at the direction of the pointing finger only to witness the other kids screaming. They rushed to reach their children.
Once they reached nearer, they saw what the matter was– the toddler was fighting for his life, shouting and crying and almost on the verge of drowning in the mighty flow of the river. What the adults witnessed then took their breaths away.
Their pet dog jumped into the rushing water without waiting for much time and swam across to reach the toddler. He then pulled the toddler by its mouth and with great strength, swam all the way back, against the flow of the river to the shore. The adults took care of the rest. They pulled both the toddler and the dog out of the river, one at a time.
The dog was, of course, petted and treated for his courage and heroism by the emotional parents. However, the selflessness displayed by him will always be a worth a million times more than any reward or treat given to him as a token of appreciation and respect for his deed.
